LCWMD's New Executive Director

The LCWMD has hired a new Executive Director to to oversee day-to-day implementation of the Long Creek Watershed Management Plan.

The Long Creek Watershed Management District (“LCWMD”) recently hired Peter Carney as its new Executive Director to oversee day-to-day implementation of the Long Creek Watershed Management Plan and Participating Landowner Agreements. Peter serves as staff directly to the LCWMD Board of Directors and will work closely with the Cumberland County Soil & Water Conservation District which continues to provide professional and administrative services to the LCWMD. He brings a diverse background to the LCWMD with degrees in Landscape Architecture and Law and over eleven years of experience in the Commissioner’s Office at the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (“Maine DEP”). While with Maine DEP, he focused primarily on enforcement, licensing, and policy and was the Department’s enforcement liaison to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency – Region 1.
