Long Creek November Update
If you are required to obtain a Long Creek Permit you may have recently received a letter from the Maine DEP regarding the renewal of the Post-Construction Discharge of Stormwater in the Long Creek Watershed General Permit. The following are the main points you need to understand:
The timeline for the renewal of the permit is as follows:
File a Notice of Intent with the Maine DEP in order to comply with the General Permit. This is the option that you choose if you wish to continue as a Participating Landowner.
Submit an application for an individual permit. This option was chosen by only three landowners during the last permit cycle. If you opt to change from General Permit to Individual Permit, your compliance will be prorated based on the value of your contributions to the implementation of the Management Plan over the last five years. Feel free to call us if you think you are going to undertake a substantial redevelopment project in the near future.
As we move forward with the process we will to continue to update you. Staff will be reviewing the draft permit and providing comments on behalf of Participating Landowners. If you would like to comment you can contact us or Maine DEP.
The Annual Meeting is held every February. Look for the Save the Date that will be coming soon. Plan Implementation updates are provided at the Annual Meeting
As always please call or email us with any questions or concerns.
