Key functions of the Long Creek Main Stem were restored in 2019 as part of the long-term watershed management plan.
The natural functions of Long Creek have been impacted for many years due to extensive development within the Long Creek Watershed. This has resulted in poor water quality and habitat for aquatic life in Long Creek.
The restoration project included improving aquatic habitat and the stream bed, stabilizing the stream banks, managing invasive plants, establishing native plants, and reestablishing the stream’s floodplain.
As a result of the restoration, Long Creek will have better habitat for aquatic life that live in the stream while also returning the stream closer to its natural condition. This restoration project is one of many projects that are part of a 10 year, 15 million dollar effort to restore Long Creek.
