Spring Cleanup Starts on March 28, 2022

ACV Vactor Truck

After another long Maine winter spring has arrived! The District is excited to start the annual spring cleanup on March 28th with our pavement sweeping and catch basin cleaning contractors.

Maritime Farms and Land Management, LLC will be sweeping 260 acres of roadways and parking lots. As a reminder to help us prepare for the spring sweeping, please ask your winter maintenance personnel to check that your snow dumps are reasonably free of large debris, examples include concrete curbing, broken asphalt, and general refuse. Cleaning up large debris can take an excessive amount of time for our contractor, resulting in delays and potentially impacting other Participating Landowners receiving their spring sweep in a timely manner.

Clean Venture, Inc./ACV Enviro will be out with its vac truck cleaning 700 catch basins throughout the watershed.

The contractors will work overnight or early in the day to minimize interference with your tenants, customers, patients, and visitors.

The spring cleanup program helps to remove sand, salt, grit, trash, and other debris from paved areas and catch basins to keep these pollutants from washing into Long Creek. This is an important part of the pollution prevention activities that the District manages to maintain and improve the water quality of the creek!
